On June 20th, 1999 a
new kart racing facility opened its gates for the first time. Hi-Go
Raceway is an 1/8th mile clay track located 1/4 mile north of Cecil,
Wisconsin on Highway 22. Racing was held every Sunday afternoon
along with the first annual "Fall Classic" special race
that was held in early September.
After many debates on the naming of the new track I decided on Hi-Go Raceway. The name comes from my two boys (Timmy and Jordan, then 9 and 7 years old) who believe that everything that they do or make up should include the words HI and GO. Currently I can think of the Hi-Go Store, Hi-Go Restaurant, Hi-Go Mall, etc. All of these "businesses" were run out of their bedroom and were successful from what I was told. I am not sure how they came up with the phrase but I am not to question the imaginative minds of children. My brother, Mark, was quick to point out that the phrase could also be interpreted as "HIghway 22 GO-karting" but something tells me that that is not what those two had in mind. The track itself is a clay base and is a "true" 1/8th mile in length measured on the inside of the track. It measures 325' x 150'. The straights are 25' wide and the corners are 30+' wide. Electrical hookups and water are available to the karters to use as they please. Any questions that you may have can be directed to: Mike Mitchell (715) 524-5379 or Hi-Go Raceway P.O.
